JobServe launches targeted SmartAds service
Wednesday 15th July 2009By Sam Collins
Internet Recruitment Service JobServe has launched SmartAds - three-line sponsored adverts displayed alongside relevant jobs when a candidate performs a job search.
Wholly self-service, JobServe said recruiters could set up adverts focused on keywords or phrases within minutes.
These adverts are then displayed to relevant candidates based upon the job searches that the candidates perform.
SmartAds are a JobServe pay-for-performance product, and recruiters are charged on a pay-for-click basis.
The introduction of SmartAds is in response to customers who want to target their advertisements towards specific groups of candidates in which recruiter is interested, while using the flexible and cost-effective "pay per click" charging model.
JobServe General Manager Information & Technology Chris Windram said: "When candidates search for jobs, JobServe’s matching technology always lists recruiters’ adverts in order of best match to the job seeker’s requirements. But some of our customers wanted to target their adverts to a specific group of candidates and SmartAds gives them the tool to do so.
"We chose the pay for click model made popular by Google as, in these difficult economic times, recruiters need to ensure they get the results they pay for."

End of beginning as downturn slows slightly
The seasonally-adjusted CIPS/Markit Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) rose to 42.9 in April from 39.1 the previous month, but was lower than last year’s figure of 49.7. Despite remaining below the neutral 50.0 mark (a figure less than 50 indicates a contraction) for the 13th month running, the PMI moved further from February’s joint survey record low.
