Sex and pies for upper-crust job seeker
Wednesday 28th July 2010Sex, pies and invigulate (sic) are some of the searches candidates have performed using JobServe’s mobile job search and application tools.
A review of search terms revealed some funny and unusual things that candidates are searching for using the job search tools.
Most searches for "sex" originated from Australia. Some of the more optimistic candidates were searching for "sex" combined with the "jobs near me" feature. One hopeful put "anywhere" in the search location.
A UK candidate even searched for a job as a "Sex God".
Among some of the other less fruitful searches, were searches for "casheir", "invigulator", "wearhouse" and "midwive" [sic].
A search for "cooking pies" was more surprising - presumably either a disgruntled "pastry chef" or someone who got their JobServe and Delia’s Recipe Apps mixed-up!
JobServe delivered its first iPhone app in October 2009, its first iPad app in April and the latest release of its mobile website mobile.jobserve.com) last month.
The firm said that statistics for its mobile application suite alone showed a constant and strong growth in candidates using the apps/mobile website, and their corresponding applications.

End of beginning as downturn slows slightly
The seasonally-adjusted CIPS/Markit Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) rose to 42.9 in April from 39.1 the previous month, but was lower than last year’s figure of 49.7. Despite remaining below the neutral 50.0 mark (a figure less than 50 indicates a contraction) for the 13th month running, the PMI moved further from February’s joint survey record low.
