IRP Awards go into extra time
Wednesday 30th June 2010The Recruitment and Employment Confederation has extended the deadline for applications to the 2010 IRP Awards to next Wednesday (7 July).
This gives recruitment businesses a final opportunity to nominate those within the industry who have continued to demonstrate excellence and best practice.
Now in their second year, there are 16 awards up for grabs that recognise the achievements of both individual recruiters and recruitment businesses. These are the only awards presented by the trade body for the recruitment industry.
REC Chief Executive Kevin Green said: "These awards are open to everyone within the IRP and REC and are designed to bring together the industry and celebrate those people and companies who demonstrate excellence and really make a difference to their clients and candidates on a daily basis.
"It does not matter if nominees have just joined the industry or have been working within it for 20 years; everyone has a great chance to show what positive role models they are."
The award categories this year are:
* Best Newcomer of the Year;
* Permanent Consultant of the Year;
* Temporary Consultant of the Year;
* Business Manager of the Year;
* Business Leader of the Year;

End of beginning as downturn slows slightly
The seasonally-adjusted CIPS/Markit Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) rose to 42.9 in April from 39.1 the previous month, but was lower than last year’s figure of 49.7. Despite remaining below the neutral 50.0 mark (a figure less than 50 indicates a contraction) for the 13th month running, the PMI moved further from February’s joint survey record low.
