'Sexist' Benny Hill army recruitment ad withdrawn
Wednesday 3rd February 2010By Mike Jones
A humorous Benny-Hill style recruitment advert for the Austrian army has been withdrawn after complaints by women that it is "offensive".
The TV ad features sexy women chasing after a tank wanting a "joy ride".
Earlier the women are being chatted up by a man with a sports car but they soon lose interest when Austrian army soldiers roll up in the tank.
One of the soldiers pops out of the tank and rubs his hand the length of the tank's gun barrel - then shouts: "Do you want a joy ride ladies?"
Sports car man is then dumped as the women chase after the tank Benny Hill style.
But, while the advert is clearly aimed at getting young men to join up, angry women's groups have forced the Austrian army into a tactical withdrawal.

End of beginning as downturn slows slightly
The seasonally-adjusted CIPS/Markit Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) rose to 42.9 in April from 39.1 the previous month, but was lower than last year’s figure of 49.7. Despite remaining below the neutral 50.0 mark (a figure less than 50 indicates a contraction) for the 13th month running, the PMI moved further from February’s joint survey record low.
